[Glaivester] I Saw Pirates Today: I am not certain how accurate the portrayal of Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, Bill Gates, etc. are (I know some of the history is inaccurate or at least misleading, e.g. the Lisa is not presented as the flop it was), but if it is accurate, then at least in the cases of Jobs and Gates, I am reminded of Bismarck's comment that you don't want to see sausage or legislation being made.
[SCB_BlogSpace] Microsoft In Quandary Over Virus Security: Feb. 22, 2005 - If Microsoft Corp. doesn't do more to stem Internet attacks, the company risks further alienating customers unhappy with the multitude of threats already facing its ubiquitous software. Sell its own security products, on the other hand, and Microsoft faces a potential backlash from some of its allies the companies that now provide an extra layer of security for its Windows operating system, Internet Explorer browser and other products.
[Shadow Voice] Microsoft: My Hobby, My Passion, My god I was dumb.: So I went through the tumultuous period in which Windows 3.1 became Windows for Workgroups (3.1) and DOS 6.0 became 6.11. It was hard to get anything to work in those days. But we were rewared for our efforts. I'm not sure exactly how we were rewarded but I'm told it's quite substantial.
[Blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com] seattlepi.com Microsoft Blog: Explains the Journal story: "Besides hurting its own hardware business, such a path would put Apple in more direct competition with Microsoft, whose application programs are important to the success of the Macintosh. [Chris.tantramarinteractive.com] Apple's 'Three Hits', According to Gates | Christopher Mackay's blog: Gates' back-handed complement (that "there are a lot of companies that don't have three hits") is curious. Maybe I'm misreading it, but given how successful Microsoft is, it seems to imply that Apple is good, but not that good. How many hits has Microsoft had? By my count, two; Windows and Office.
[Minimsft.blogspot.com] Mini-Microsoft: Apple Crashing the Party: At CES or at MacWorld, things happen during demos no matter what you do to prep for it. I'm sure that both the Microsoft guys and the Mac guys extensively tested the demos to make sure they worked well. Sometimes, especially regarding new technology, things happen. Have a look at the below link for an explanation from one of the hands-on people at the MS CES demo.
