Gadgetism.org > The LifeDrive Diaries, Part III: Music and movie machine

[Da Wireless Kubo (Home of the m|ph Editors)] 3.85 gigs isn’t that much space for holding movies, but it can hold at least a couple and leave you enough space for music, photos, and work files. I’m not a true believer in portable video (yet), mainly because the time and effort it takes to either rip or hunt down videos on the Web is far from being a mainstream activity. It just ain’t as effortless and as quick as ripping songs from a CD. But for those who have either the patience or the links to online videos, you’ll be disappointed to discover that the Media player is rather limited.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[I Am An Architect, They Call Me Pat Butcher] Eugh, lemsips are horrible. I put three sugars in ...: it alleviates cold symptoms by ooooh 1%, I'd rather not drink the fucking poison. Yes, I have a cold. It'... this forever, ranting about mans need to hunt, or how absurd it is when modern day man tries to stake his... idiots, as who really gives a fuck? And he was right. I'm always "too cool for school" at gigs

[Nizam's Playground] A Tempo XVI... WELL DONE, RAFFLES WINDS!: More photo-taking, before we parted ways. Dorin (the most senior percussionist and Raffles Winds member) and Wenyang discussed about their gigs and experience in playing the flute and synthesizer with musicals which were staged here, and I was awed at how lucky they were to actually get such jobs.

[frequencysquared] Robbie Muir Interview: But by and large it sort of came to an end. I did a bit more musically once I got here with some other people””this guy who I met fairly soon after arriving in Wellington””Brett Jones, who used to be the bassist for Nocturnal Projections. So that was like kind of a happy coincidence; I just met him through a friend of a friend, just a completely different track, through back to the same band””someone coincidentally who had played with Peter. Brett was a really good guy and, again, a very talented musician, and he was I suppose a bit like me; he had been quite heavily involved in music earlier on, and then had broken away from it a bit and was quite keen to get back into it, doing something probably on a little more casual basis, so we fairly quickly started playing together; initially mostly just for our own entertainment, but we eventually got hold of someone to drum with us, and played a couple of times around Wellington and at New Plymouth.

[Pregnant Without Intercourse] The OTHER 50: Day Nine: It's a bit of a technicality, but the Canuck thing of claiming everybody who moves away and everybody who ever comes here - for instance, all the U.S. draft dodgers who moved here are full-fledged Canadians now but Skip Spence or, say, Frank Gehry, remain Canadian despite how American the main parts of their lives were... - always seems rather desperate on our parts, doesn't it? Not that I haven't indulged in it too.

[Frontburner.dmagazine.com] D Magazine: The Front Burner: A blog-reading FrontBurnervian passes along this link that takes to task a new book by Ben Shapiro called Porn Generation: How Social Liberalism Is Corrupting Our Future. The book includes, "a roundtable discussion that brings together the diverse perspectives of columnist and bestselling author Michelle Malkin, Dallas Morning News op-ed editor Rod Dreher, former Princeton chaplain Father C. McCloskey III, and columnist and bestselling author David Limbaugh to discuss how bad things have become and what the prospects are for bringing the porn generation back from the brink." I can't tell for sure, but it doesn't look like Porn Generation has pictures. Pass.

[Whatcharockin.com] Whatcha Rockin?: Speak Up!: Just as Anakin Skywalker's life is all about him which causes him to get jiggy with the Dark Side, my music is all about ME and behooves me to take up lightsabers against any barrier between my ears and their listening pleasure. Remember my last post on the perfidy of iTunes and how iTunes-protected music will not play on the iPod unless the poor thing is run through the iTunes mind-meld at least once? Now, the iPod has partial amnesia and needs a full reboot. This is going to be trickier than eliminating the Death Star.

[Scottsteg.blogspot.com] Steg's Music Seminary: We might be able to record a couple of tracks in August and put it out as an EP in the U.K., but, with regards to making the second record, we won't have time to rehearse and record until January/February of next year. We're certainly putting together ideas at this minute, you know, with things ticking inside of our heads, but that's more of an individual basis, and we need time to get together and work on those ideas as a four piece rather than individually. A lot of times, songs can come together for us only when we're all working on them. We've got some time yet, as there are people still just getting into the record now.

http://www.rfbooth.com [Rfbooth.com] Blog archives: old rambles: The first was at the Bridge in Westhoughton, and the third timewe've played there with the third different lineup. The firsttime, our first gig, was without James; a lineup we thought we'duse for maybe half the gigs and have in fact used only twice, thatfirst gig and one last weekend while James wasotherwise engaged (inrehearsals; after all, you can't expect a man to turn down a giglike that!) I was very pleasantly surprised at how well I coped;I was in a little discomfort, but held up much better than Ifeared, with strong pitching. I didn't have the usual top range, but that's only to be expected.

Redmonk.comhttp://www.redmonk.com [Redmonk.com] James Governor's MonkChips: If you are a major corporation trying to work out how blogs are going to change your business, and thinking about podcasting as a corporate strategy, by all means call Charline, (who is hiring for Forrester, by the way. her RSS doesn't offer full text so i don't read it unless someone else i read points to one of her posts, but that's my choice). I would argue you should call Steve Gillmor too, though. RedMonk would do a good job for you as well. And an army of bloggers that have already done it, rather than talk about it, might bring some value.
