The LifeDrive Diaries, Part II: What’s New

[Da Wireless Kubo (Home of the m|ph Editors)] Transfer rates are okay””about 4 minutes to transfer the 700MB worth of videos (on an Apple PowerBook with USB 2.0 ports). Windows users are even luckier, because the LifeDrive Manager application lets you set up a set of folders and files that are kept synchronized between your computer and the LifeDrive. This app makes the LifeDrive a more convenient mobile workhorse, especially when paired with the Universal Wireless Keyboard. With the LifeDrive-UWK combo, you have all your important files, a big screen, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

Om Malik’s Broadband Blog » Is LifeDrive Worth the Price?: While I applaud Palm for finally developing something “new”, I think this one misses the mark. In a world where people can carry around 1GB storage for less than $100, this is all about form factor/connectivity. On the form factor side, you can’t be all things to all people so consumers now have an inferior MP3 device, but perhaps an acceptable video (albeit low storage for vid) device.

If it has dreadful battery life, well, then it will have some trouble (especially when compared to an iPod). I'm not sure compelling features will save it, if the battery life is short, because the primary uses — WiFi, MP3 and probably movies and TV — will demand that the device lasts long enough to watch a movie, a few TV shows or a few hours of web surfing.

palmOne’s LifeDrive Mobile Manager appears on Amazon - Engadget ...: Hi guys. I am new, but I just wanted to point out, that in some photos, the bluetooth and wifi icons are gone (on the sidebar) and also the screen orientation button. Plus you could probably change the name of companion to some other name, so that is most likely from the Zire72. And Office Docs?
