Second, while the notion that Democrats care about maintaining ethical purity is rather quaint and touching (and impossible to reconcile with either his initial appointment or the Clinton presidency), the notion that they'd jettison a fund-raising deity over it is simply delusional. Third, there's no way on God's green Earth that the press will let Republicans make an issue of the Democrats' ties to business scandals. Just take a look at their failure to go after Tom Daschle, whose wife is a lobbyist and who is himself implicated in a scandal involving a fatal airplane crash, and you can imagine how little they'll care about the DNC chairman.
