[ Galvanized] So we have RFID that could soon track our identity including all medical records, public records, and purchases from a centralized location, and now the possibility of this OpenID that would track our identity online, as well, with a single user profile? Add GPS capability to that and… What’s going on? I think that our technology is starting to turn on us just like in the movies. We are all living under constant surveillance whether we should be or not. We are slowly being boxed in and micromanaged (is that the word?). Are we still the consumer or the product? Clearly, the motto for today’s world: Information is Power.

He described a section of the Times' site launched two years ago that lets users tap into Times' critics' movie reviews, access imdb.com and buy movie tickets. "And people said, 'Why would the New York Times sell movie tickets?' Yet Yahoo goes out and buys Musicmatch, and nobody says, 'What's yahoo doing in that business?'" It all comes down to user expectations.
