[Dean & Nooch @ E3 - San Jose Mercury News] At E3, Dean parties with Maroon 5 (the lead singer loves Castlevania), quizzes Nintendo big shots on the games and guts of: The party was at the Highlands nightclub at the Hollywood & Highland entertainment complex. The place was about half the size of the Kodak theater ballroom that Nintendo used in the past, but Nintendo crammed the same number of guests into the place so you had to elbow your way through the crowds. The buffets overflowed with decadence ranging from chocolate truffles to ice sculptures that were carved so that bartenders could pour an alcoholic drink through them into a cup.
[Scribe Journal - The National Ledger: Honest and Unmerciful] Nintendo Unveils Revolution, Let the Console Wars Begin: "Revolution" uses an IBM PowerPC-derived CPU code-named "Broadway" and a graphics chip set designed by ATI Technologies Inc. called "Hollywood." It also utilizes a slot-loading drive that plays new 12cm optical discs containing Revolution games, but it will also accept GameCube discs. And, according to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata the Revolution will play DVDs with a "small, self-contained attachment."
MeGaBiTe1's Blog: February 2005: Hardware developers at Nintendo are always looking for what comes next and what will be the new direction as soon as they finish the design of any particular piece of hardware. Some of them are actually working on improved functionality of the existing machine, with some working on a rework of the exterior design exactly in the same way they did with the transition from Game Boy Advance to Game Boy Advance SP.
Today @ PC World: On the games side, Nintendo promises that it will extend hits like Maria, Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Metroid on the Revolution. Iwata hinted at a brand new game from star game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, but he did not reveal any details. Nintendo is also working with Square Enix to bring the Final Fantasy series to Revolution. The company also expects to have two Wi-Fi games, although no details were provided.
Home - Nikush.com: The Revolution will be Nintendo's smallest console - the final form apparently smaller even than the dainty sleek black prototype held up by Satoru Iwata and seen on the Internet earlier today - and plays 12cm optical discs as well as GameCube titles, features 512MB of onboard Flash memory storage with the option to add SD memory cards, stands up straight or lies flat, and, critically, opens the gateway to the company's entire pre-Cube back catalogue on NES, SNES and N64 via a broadband service governed by a proprietary Digital Rights Management system.
E3 Insider | Blog: (Like you didn't expect that). Checking out West Hall I spotted a huge crowd playing downloadable DS games. Once you shut off the power to the DS you lose the game, but the opportunity to try a half-dozen or so games is just too irresistable so I will be there later to be sure. Also, the Sony booth had a PSP buzz going that was simply phenomenal, and the line to see (that's all you can do this year) the PS3 was too long for mere words.
The Richter Scale Blog - by Jake Richter: The most interesting non-standard things I found were a VoIP program on the Nintendo DS, the Video Chat on the Sony PS2 using EyeToy, and a preview of EyeToy Kinetics. The latter was something I think I could finally get my wife to use as an entry to possibly finding game consoles useful for more than playing DVDs or distracting her three children (my two kids and myself). EyeToy Kinetics let’s one use the PS2 with an attached EyeToy camera as an interactive exercise device, with exercises ranging from a sedate but rewarding Tai-Chi-like session, to a heart pounding aerobic kick boxing work out.
