[wyckedone - si vis pacem, para bellum] Browsing is fast but opening a new tab using Ctrl + T (like in Firefox) is annoying because it re-opens the page you are currently on in the new tab. That can be changed if you go under Tools -> Options -> Tabbed Browsing and change the setting for When a new tab is created open with:. Another small annoyance is that a new tab is opened next to the current tab. That, too, can be changed in the Tabbed Browsing options next to Open a new tab to the:.

[wyckedone - si vis pacem, para bellum] Netscape 8.0 released: Why do they think everyone using Netscape has an AOL/Aim address? It ask me for mine every time I do an install of Netscape and run the browser for the first time. Also, it puts those “Free AOL” links in my start menu (Windows). There should be an install question of “Do you want a lot of annoying AOL links put on your desktop during installation?” so at least I would have a choice.
[ Distro Jockey] Kazehakase - Fast Linux Browser: Gecko is the layout/rendering engine that powers every Mozilla web product - Firefox included. The main problem with switching browsers is that a smaller group of programmers or a brand new product couldn’t possibly have a robust web rendering engine as some of the big players. This becomes a moot point when a new project decides to use Gecko to run the layout.
Surfin' Safari: It should be in the next release. Here's the short version: the Netscape cookie spec says when a cookie comes from a URL like "http://www.foo.com/user.php" and no path is explicitly specified, then the path should default to "/user.php". However, it actually needs to default to "/", because that's what all real browsers do. Don't you love the web?
Netscape 8 beta for win32 is out: There are some neat toolbar features, one of which can be used to log you into a webmail account, like Yahoo, or Netscape. There are other Web mail services that it supports, too. There is also a neat weather icon for the toolbar, and when you run the setup for Netscape 8, it asks for your Zip code, so that the current weather can be displayed. Of course, all of these features can be turned off.
OperaWatch: The Unofficial Opera Blog: Microsoft: Do we need ...: With the recent launch of Firefox 1.0, Microsoft Australia's managing director Steve Vamos told ZDNet Australia that he did not believe Internet Explorer would be threatened by the Firefox launch. "We probably need to do a bit of work to communicate the features that are in IE," he said. Wake up and smell the coffee, Mr. Vamos, there are NO features in IE, nothing, compared to what other browsers have.
gemal.dk - Netscape Browser Screenshots: One one hand, it's quite unfair that Netscape takes profit from a project it never really wanted, one the other hand it's ok because AOL really invested much money in developing the Gecko engine, and gave the world a enourmous present, independend from the fact that it let Netscape be destroyed by stupid marketing & business men...
Ali Alvi's WebLog : Tabbed Browsing in IE vs Other features: You do these things, you'll keep your % and you'll kill the need for Firefox and lots of people that switched will go back. The only reason why IE is getting dumped now really is for tabbed browsing for the geeks and because it won't let you install toolbars and spyware at all, no choice at all, because it just doesn't work. And that's best for most users. So while taking away features is not something you should do, you have to make it so that people get a clear question that really tells them what's going on.
