Gadgetism.org > Mac switches to Intel; fanatics eat crow

Freyburg.comhttp://www.freyburg.com [Freyburg.com] As everyone knows by now, Apple announced yesterday that they'll be switching to Intel processors in the next year or two. For most users, I'm betting the change will be seamless, and I'm looking forward to owning a Powerbook in a year or two (my G4 still does what I need it to for now) that can dual boot both OS X (which I vastly prefer) and Windows XP for games and other assorted nonsense. Hell, I might even throw in a partition for Linux if I'm feeling especially jaunty.

[cinematic::rain] the apple-intel deal: i have come to the conclusion that what apple might be going after, would be a mac-mini based media center in conjunction with a high-res, video-playing ipod. a full fledged competitor to windows media center, no doubt but all design done through apple as usual. hey, if MS can use PPC chips for the XBOX 360, then i can totally see Apple using Intel chips to create a media center. i may be totally wrong and be speaking out of my ass, but this wouldnt be the first time.

This is Intel's call to jump ahead of technology for once.

Jaybrewer.nethttp://www.jaybrewer.net [Jaybrewer.net] jaybrewer.net: Sounds crazy, but I had read an article that PVRBlog.com was doing really well and it was focused on just mostly TIVO and Replay. I had seen the Senseo Single Serve Coffee machine in Wired and other publications that seemed to be inventing a new category - a coffee machine that makes single cups of coffees using coffee pods. Maybe a blog on just Senseo and Single Serve Coffee would work? Maybe other companies would make machines and in a year or so it would be a big new product category with lots of stuff to write on?

[Slideaway.ca] Modsuperstar.ca - How High Can You Fly With Buffalo Wings?: Apple on Intel? This idea has been floated around for ages.  Apple running on Intel chips.  Well it's finally happened.  I'm so torn right now.  I know I've spent a good amount of time and energy in my life(having used the Mac platform since 1988) in dispelling speed gap myths and generally bashing Intel.  I suppose it's not all that different from when Apple and IBM jumped into bed with each other a couple of years ago.  Back in the 80's IBM used to be the biggest game in town, and if someone talked about the 2 platforms, it used to be Mac and IBM.  Now that same conversation goes often people comparing Mac to Intel systems.  Now they're one in the same.  It's left me with a hollow feeling.  It's like you preached democracy only to wake up one day and find that the communists won and you're now on their side.
