[Computer Alchemy] How would you change the palmOne LifeDrive?: Maybe you’ve got your mitts on one already, maybe you’re just contemplating, or maybe it’ll be a cold day in hellyou’ll get one until they change “______” on thepalmOne LifeDrive. [Engadget - www.engadget.com.] How would you change the palmOne LifeDrive? >: And the CEO quoted in Forbes yesterday as saying that the LifeDrive was "aiming at the iPod" as if some bloated overpriced PDA that will appeal to my dad and his golf buddies has any chance in hell of becoming the next portable media phenomena? The industry is getting SO much iPod envy these days it's making me sick -- why can't anyone just make their own device so cool I want to own it, rather than take jealous swipes at the iPod and only remind me why there are so very few devices I would actually pay good money to own?
tech ronin: FileMaker 7 Arrived today: If you are interested, you can see my top ten favorite features of FileMaker 7 on the FileMaker Kingdom page in my company website. I'm actually contemplating starting a FileMaker 7 blog because there's already all sorts of interesting information out and there's going to be so much more information and utilities coming out over the next year. Even though I've got a big learning curve ahead of me, I'm excited to have moved up to the leading edge, compliments of FileMaker Inc's bold new initiative.
The Digital Music Weblog | The Gypsy Caravan: A Canadian federal appeals courtupheld anearlier decision severely limiting the freedom of the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA) to identifyindividuals through their ISPs and sue them for online copyright infringement. The ruling noted an unprecedented threatto personal privacy, and further observed the treacherous nature of identifying users by IP number when ISPsincreasingly assign those number dynamically; when each users Internet session is tagged with a different IP number, tying a specific online transfer to an individual is like using a mousetrap on a mosquito. Despite categorical andconsecutive court losses, the CRIA is bizarrely claiming victory because the court affirmed that copyright existsonline (who wouldnt agree with that?). The CRIA lawyer was quoted saying, “It gives us a road map for what we have todo in the future.” Adapt?
Rohdesign Weblog: Category Archives: Palm: The stock 'Calendar' app has also been a bright spot, since I can use color categories for marking my work and personal schedules and have them in sync with the Palm Desktop. This is important because of the way I use the Calendar tool -- I track all of my daily work time in 15 minute (minimum) increments, so that I can build timesheets at the end of the month for billing. Consistent color coding on the Palm Desktop and Calendar really helps me when tallying up my work hours on the Desktop at the end of the month. I do miss a few features from Agendus (which I used to use) but as time goes on they are missed less and less.
Ken Walkers Homepage: I’ve been seriously contemplating buying a Mac, on and off of course as McQ can tell you. However, I think I’ve found the one I wanted finally. The just announced G5 iMac 20″ needs few options other than 1Gb of memory and the wireless keyboard/mouse.
