Gadgetism.org > Geek out! History of the Game Controller

http://www.realtechnews.com [Real Tech News - Independent Tech] This is why I love the Internet. An unknown person known only as “Sock Master” has compiled a detailed history of the game controller. Not sure what is scarier - the fact that I have used almost all of them or that I can spend so many hours looking at this stuff.

[I am a bug] Not The NY Times Book Review: Even though I am only intimately familiar with WMMS from 1983 onward, I was surprised to find the opening chapters of Radio Daze just as fascinating as the familiar era that dominates the last two-thirds of the book. Olszweski does a fine job setting up the introduction of FM rock to Cleveland while introducing the air crew and the original programming incarnation of WMMS. Back then, the most popular WMMS DJ was local legend Billy Bass who was instrumental in the station's rise to free-form prominence, attaining notoriety well outside of the state of Ohio. The Bass era was then followed by the station's meteoric ascent into the stratosphere towards the end of the 1970s following the arrival of the "classic" WMMS lineup, which included such crucial central figures as Kid Leo, John Gorman (several of his hilarious motivational "War Bulletins" to the staff are printed in their entirety), Denny Sanders, Jeff Kinzbach and Ed "Flash" Ferenc.

One of the principals in the LA-based marketing consulting firm Centrifuge Partners picked up the domain name sandhillroadkill.com to support a business approach that the company did not end up pursuing. (See here for an explanation of their original "viral marketing" idea.) The current sandhillroadkill.com site is a single page featuring a cheery "death" Tarot card, the caption: "We're still out digging up dot com bones and performing autopsies so we can help others avoid similar fates.

I tend to think of my weblogs as a kitchen table chat with a good cup of coffee. Somedays I pound away on the computer for hours working and rewriting what I have to say about a specific topic.  Other days you're lucky if you get me to touch a computer-- especially now around the holidays or when real world deadlines are pounding on me. Other people use their weblogs for updating everyone on what they're working on, along with personal updates, comments and links to "good stuff."  The reality check is that weblogs are a wonderful way for groups of people to stay in touch on topics of interest.
