[The Pujol Family] 2004 Carnaval in Ecuador: The following evening Gavin invited us to dinner, he was making pastas with a mushroom, cream, wine, garlic, parsley sauce, the conditions were that he would cook as long we promised to do the dishes...it was a very interesting night...very entertaining conversations (caught on videotape)...one of the moments that stands out is when Gavin was about to boil the pastas and tells Nico about the way his Italian friend says to open a pasta packet, which was banging the packet on one's knee, well Gavin tried this and at the same time hit the frying pan (with the sauce in it) and everything ended up on the floor...Gavin was very upset with himself and while Nico tried to console him, I went to the store to get some more mushrooms. When I got back, they had decided that it was just fine to scoop the sauce of the floor and cook it up again! I was somewhat shocked at first, but so hungry that it didn't matter....

[Sfist.com] SFist: Our dining companion could not resist his favorite dish, the Carnitas Adobadas ($12.60, chicken, steak, or combo), a huge plate of chicken marinated in a special sauce made of Anchote Yucateco (spiced anchote seed paste) and sauteed with onions, tomatoes, and green bell peppers. With the awesome lard-free hot flour tortillas as an accompaniment, we stuffed ourselves silly and still had leftovers; one almost always does at Celia's, unless you're this Samoan guy we know who can eat the entire Cancun Platter ($14.60 for crab, prawns and chicken sauteed in wine, then topped with Monterey Jack and baked) and still pick stuff off of everyone else's plates.
