[Paul's Time Sink] Tritton has come out with surround sound headphones, that include a built-in microphone. These headphones have four drivers in each of ear pieces, used to give the surround sound effect. These look like they would be good for online games. Unfortunately, these only have a USB interface, so they require a Windows driver installed in order to use them. I would love to see one of these compatible with the PlayStation 2...

If you mount near your ears and then playback on say an iPod, you are making what is called a binaural resproduction, it is going to sound very close to what you hear there. If you mount these microphones 12-24 inches apart, it is standard stereo and sounds good through speakers. since we are using for ipods, the idea of doing real binaural for podcasts is pretty cool since most listening is via headphones.

[Sohailahmed.blogspot.com] Sohail Ahmed's Blog: Configuring your audio setup for Skype: If you are using a computer headset (more common with PCs), you pretty much eliminate the feedback issue. If you are using a microphone and your speakers, then you have to be careful that the sound from your speakers doesn't feed back into your microphone. If you're not sure this is the problem, replace your speakers with regular audio headphones, but continue to use your microphone. With no other sound except that going to your ears, you eliminate the possibility of feedback.
