Computex: Tiny Toys

[Da Wireless Kubo (Home of the m|ph Editors)] Computex: Tiny Toys Filed under: Gadget ”” Art Ilano @ 10:21 am Computex 2005 ended yesterday. I leave you with some of the more interesting mobile gadgets that we’ve come across. The Transcend Digital Album has a 20GB hard drive and a 2.5”³ hi-res display. It plays MP3 music and displays JPG pictures. It even has an A/V out port and a remote control. Unlike the iPod photo, this unit accepts memory cards: CF Types I/II, Microdrive, SmartMedia, SD, MMC, Memory Stick, and Memory Stick Pro. This means that this unit was designed precisely with photo buffs in mind, allowing them to use this as portable storage for freeing up their cameras’ memory cards. (more”¦)...

Asus, for one at Computex, introduced their cellular phones, which are expected to sell overseas in areas such as Europe and Asia. We have been informed that there are no such plans to introduce them into North America, however. Meanwhile, there are other innovative products that take what already is and improves on it.

Techdigestuk.typepad.com[Techdigestuk.typepad.com] Tech Digest: In response to nVidia’s success with its SLI technology, ATI has just announced its own tandem graphics card system - the CrossFire. Sister-blog Games Digest writes that using a system called the ”˜Composition Engine’ a certified CrossFire motherboard allows a user to hook an orginary X800 generation ATI graphics card into a new CrossFire Edition X800. The setup then merges the data to give your system a considerable graphical boost. You’ll need to carefully match your CrossFire Edition card to your current card because ATI has already ackonowledged that mismatched cards (although probably operating fine) will default to the speed of the slower card.
