[Cellphones.engadget.com] Verizons lame excuse for crippling the Bluetooth on the Motorola ...: The v710 is a Verizon-owned phone, which means it is Brew-enabled, DRM-retrofitted, and functionally geared to meet Verizon's specific requirements for profitability. The fact that the phone has a few features consumers like is merely a coincidence, and sadly the phone itself lacks many other features that will most likely never be fixed, at least without giving up more features.
[Jeremy.zawodny.com] Switched to Verizon and the Motorola V710 Phone (by Jeremy Zawodny): My curiosity is this: If one were to buy the phone outright (at full (*^*&^$^#%) retail price) from Motorola, and then activate the phone through Verizon, would it still be crippled? I would think that if Motorola disabled it, you would effectively bypass the issues.
[Blog.markwshead.com] Motorola MPx200 Smartphone - Next Generation (AT&T): Worst things about the service: No signal even in my home (outside works fine) - in traveling I have some problems with signal, Drop calls (a lot - similar to sprint), no free cell to cell minutes unless both phones are on AT&T network (Ex: Assume that you are calling a friend who also has AT&T GSM service. You are traveling and your phone is showing Cingular or T-Mobile or something else (other than AT&T), then your minutes are not counted as cell-to-cell minutes.
