Gigaom.com[Gigaom.com] Om Malik’s Broadband Blog » A Rocket in Your Pocket?: Memina (a Samsung spin-off) is all set to release a new 2GB POCKET ROCKET — a top-of-the-line USB Flash drive with up to 18 MB/s transfer rate, a “no-lose” swivel cap. That’s about twice as fast as a CD player, and can store one hour of uncompressed digital video. Or 500 songs, or in my case the Pink Floyd collection.

MAKE: Bloghttp://www.makezine.com/blog [MAKE: Blog] Hacking in Iraq, Interview with Jake Appelbaum: In other cities, such as Baghdad, it's possible to get much more interesting things. Everything from NVGS to RPGS (Rocket Propelled Grenades). I hear the going price on an RPG is around $1000 if you're white and western. Good luck getting that without getting killed.

When you become a 'burden' to society, remember that they will try to murder you in this manner"

[HDTV - hdtv.engadget.com] HOW-TO: Turn your Mac mini into a media center: Mac Mini wasn't aimed at this market, it's aimed at current PC users who they want to switch. Hence, no component out or digital audio out (like the tower G5 has.) The suggestion of the USB-based surround sound output is the best one IMO. Having a TV that has a DVI input instead of component sounds like the better solution, but I've seen a device on ATI's site that claims it'll adapt a DVI-I signal to component; I called and the guy said, "ANY DVI-I signal." even though their website does not list the 9200 explicitly.

Engadget.com[Engadget.com] The Pocket Rocket USB flash drive - Engadget - www.engadget.com: Unless they’re supersmall or have some sort of novelty value, there’s usually not a whole lot to distinguish one USB flash drive from another these days, but Memina’s just come out with The Pocket Rocket, a new line of high-capacity flash drives with a read speed of 18MB/s and superfast write speed of 15MB/s. It’s not totally uncommon to see a flash drive with a faster read speed, but you hardly ever see one with a write speed that high, and when you’re filling up a 1GB drive, that extra speed does make a difference. Comes in 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB versions, all of which come with a gold USB connectors and an attached rotating cap that you won’t be able to lose.
